Abstract
The rapid advancement of digital technology has transformed various aspects of education, including English language learning. In today's digital education era, digital literacy has become an essential competency that enables students to effectively access, evaluate, create, and communicate information through digital platforms. This article aims to examine the role of digital literacy in improving English learning by reviewing recent literature on educational technology, English language teaching (ELT), and digital competence. The study employs a literature review method by analyzing scholarly articles, books, and reports published between 2020 and 2025. The findings indicate that digital literacy contributes significantly to the development of students' English language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Digital learning platforms such as learning management systems, language learning applications, online collaboration tools, and artificial intelligence-based technologies provide students with greater learning flexibility, authentic language exposure, and opportunities for autonomous learning. However, several challenges remain, including unequal access to digital technology, limited digital competence among teachers and students, information overload, and ethical concerns related to the use of artificial intelligence. Therefore, integrating digital literacy into English language education requires collaboration among educational institutions, teachers, students, and policymakers to ensure effective, responsible, and inclusive digital learning environments. Strengthening digital literacy is expected to improve students' English proficiency while preparing them for lifelong learning and global communication in the digital age.
