Abstract
The integration of digital technology into education has transformed students’ reading habits and created new opportunities for language learning through online platforms. One platform that has gained popularity among students is Quora, a question-and-answer website that provides authentic English-language content through discussions, opinions, and experiences shared by users worldwide. This study aimed to explore students’ experiences in using Quora application for improving reading skills among Class 4B English Education students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Islam Riau. The study employed a qualitative narrative inquiry design involving six participants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert Scale Questionnaire and an Open-Ended Questionnaire distributed through Google Forms. The findings revealed that students generally perceived Quora positively as a platform for reading English texts. The results indicated that Quora provides authentic reading materials, supports students in identifying main ideas and specific information, improves understanding of detailed information, and encourages the use of reading strategies. Furthermore, students reported increased engagement and interest in reading activities due to the variety of topics available on the platform. The findings also demonstrated that Quora contributes to digital literacy development by encouraging students to evaluate information critically and learn from multiple perspectives. In addition, students reported improvements in vocabulary acquisition and reading motivation through exposure to authentic language use and meaningful discussions. Overall, the study suggests that Quora provides valuable learning experiences that support reading comprehension, vocabulary development, digital literacy, and motivation among English Education students.
