- Abstract
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an increasingly important tool in educational settings, particularly in supporting students’ writing activities. AI-powered applications such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude offer various features that assist students in generating ideas, improving grammar, enriching vocabulary, and organizing written texts. This study aimed to explore the role of Artificial Intelligence in the writing activities of Class 4B English Education students at FKIP UIR. A qualitative descriptive approach with a narrative research design was employed in this study. Data were collected through a questionnaire distributed to 15 students who had experience using AI tools for academic writing purposes. The findings revealed that most students held positive perceptions regarding the use of AI in writing activities. Students reported that AI helped them solve writing problems, generate ideas, improve grammar and vocabulary, organize paragraphs effectively, and complete writing tasks more efficiently. Furthermore, AI contributed to increased confidence and motivation during the writing process. Despite concerns regarding potential overreliance on technology, the overall findings indicate that AI plays a significant role in supporting students’ writing development. Therefore, AI can be considered a valuable educational tool when used responsibly and critically in academic writing activities.
