Abstract

Website-based information systems have become an essential component in supporting organizational operations across various sectors due to their accessibility, flexibility, and efficiency. This study aims to analyze the development of website-based information systems through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The review synthesizes findings from previous studies to identify commonly used software development methods, implementation trends, advantages, challenges, and research gaps. The SLR process includes formulating research questions, conducting literature searches, applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, extracting relevant data, and synthesizing the findings. The analysis indicates that the Waterfall model remains the most widely applied development methodology because of its structured and systematic approach, while Agile, Prototype, Rapid Application Development (RAD), and Scrum are increasingly adopted in projects requiring flexibility and rapid adaptation to changing requirements. Furthermore, website-based information systems provide significant benefits in improving operational efficiency, accessibility, data management, and service quality. However, successful implementation depends on selecting an appropriate development methodology based on project characteristics and organizational needs. This study provides a comprehensive overview of current research trends and offers recommendations for future studies focusing on hybrid development methods, information security, and the integration of emerging technologies into website-based information systems.

  30. Introduction: Coupled with rapid technological advancements, information technology has become one of the most important and essential elements today. This is because information technology simplifies and assists tasks that were previously manual by making them more computerized, thereby making work more effective and efficient.[1] The rapid development of information technology requires institutions and organizations to have quick access to information. Almost all activities carried out require information technology; therefore, information technology has become crucial in supporting administrative activities as well as functions within other work units. [2] Archives are a source of information that serve as a record of various activities; these documents are stored as systematically as possible in designated locations to facilitate the retrieval process when needed. [3] With the large volume of records being created, the issues that must be addressed become increasingly complex, and there is a growing need for accurate and timely information. If handling these records remains inefficient and is done only manually, the system should be converted to a computerized one. This is because computers are the ideal tool for processing routine data.[ 4 ] The use of computers in information systems is inseparable from the provision of software and hardware with processing speeds adequate for the workload, as well as the provision of brainware, users, and human resources to operate the system, thereby facilitating system improvements. [ 5 ]. Based on current research at Prof. Dr. Hazairin, SH University, document archiving is still carried out conventionally—that is, documents are stored only on computers and then archived in filing cabinets. This makes the document retrieval process time-consuming and prone to the loss of. 6(2), 258–267.
