PENGARUH PENYULUHAN MENGGUNAKAN BONEKA TANGAN TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN MENYIKAT GIGI PADA ANAK KELAS IV DAN V DI SDN TAMBAK ANYAR KABUPATEN BANJAR
Abstract
Oral health is an important part of overall health. Children's lack of knowledge regarding proper toothbrushing techniques can increase the risk of dental caries. Oral health education using hand puppet is an engaging and interactive educational method that can help improve children's understanding of oral health. This study aimed to determine the effect of health education using hand puppets on toothbrushing knowledge among fourth- and fifth-grade students at Tambak Anyar Primary School, Banjar Regency. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The population of this study consisted of all fourth- and fifth-grade students at Tambak Anyar Primary School, Banjar Regency, totaling 36 students. The sample consisted of 36 fourth- and fifth-grade students selected using a total sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the Paired Sample t-test. The results showed that the mean score of toothbrushing knowledge was 4.61 before the intervention and increased to 7.94 after the intervention. The results of the Paired Sample T-test showed a p-value of 0.000 with α = 0.05 (p < α), indicating that the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) was accepted. In conclusion, there was a significant effect of oral health education using hand puppet on toothbrushing knowledge among fourth- and fifth-grade students at Tambak Anyar Primary School, Banjar Regency. Hand puppet media is expected to be used as an alternative educational medium for promoting oral health among elementary school children.Keywords
