PERKEMBANGAN FORMULASI TABLET DENGAN METODE KEMPA LANGSUNG (DIRECT COMPRESSION)

Abstract

Tablets are one of the most widely used forms of pharmaceutical preparations because they have high dosage accuracy, good stability, easy to produce, and provide convenience in use. One of the tablet making methods that is widely applied is the direct compression method because the process is simpler, more efficient, and economical than the wet granulation method or dry granulation. This research aims to study the development of tablet formulation using the direct felt method based on the original research article (original research article) published in 2021–2026. The research was conducted using the literature review method. The article was obtained through searching the Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and ResearchGate databases using the keywords direct compression tablet, tablet formulation using direct compression, directly compressed tablet, immediate release tablet by direct compression, and direct compression method tablet. The article is then selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria so that 25 original research articles are obtained that meet the requirements. The results of the study show that the success of the tablet formulation is influenced by the characteristics of raw materials, the selection of excipients, and the control of process parameters. The use of excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), lactose, crospovidone, croscarmellose sodium, and co-processed excipients has been proven to be able to increase the flow properties, compressibility, hardness of the tablet, and speed up the time to destroy the tablet. In addition, the application of the Quality by Design (QbD) approach, multivariate modeling, and continuous direct compression is able to increase process efficiency and produce more consistent tablet. Thus, the direct felt method is still an effective method and continues to develop in the development of modern tablet formulations.
