PENGARUH GAYA KEPEMIMPINAN KEPALA SEKOLAH DAN MOTIVASI KERJA TERHADAP KINERJA TENAGA PENAJAR DI SMK NEGERI 1 RANGKASBITUNG

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of principals’ leadership style and work motivation on teachers’ performance at SMK Negeri 1 Rangkasbitung. The research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The population consisted of 78 permanent teachers with NUPTK, and total sampling was applied. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire (1–5) that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression analysis with SPSS. The results indicate that the principal’s leadership style has a significant effect on teachers’ performance with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Work motivation also has a significant effect on teachers’ performance with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Simultaneously, leadership style and work motivation significantly affect teachers’ performance, as indicated by F value > F table and significance of 0.000 < 0.05. The coefficient of determination (R²) shows that leadership style and work motivation explain approximately 60–70% of the variance in teachers’ performance, while the remaining percentage is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. These findings confirm that effective leadership and high work motivation play a crucial role in improving teachers’ performance in vocational high schools.
