Analysis of Phonological Errors in Arabic Speaking Skills among 8th-Grade Students at MTs Al-Kautsar, Pane Tongah, Simalungun, North Sumatra

Abstract

This study aims to analyze phonological errors in Arabic speaking skills among eighth-grade students at MTs Al Kautsar Pane Tongah, Simalungun, North Sumatra. This study also aims to identify the types of phonological errors made by the students, the factors that cause these errors, and the efforts made to overcome them. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, Arabic speaking tests, interviews, and documentation. The data were then analyzed by identifying, classifying, describing, and analyzing the causes of the phonological errors. The significance of this study lies in determining the students’ ability to pronounce Arabic sounds correctly and identifying the difficulties they encounter in speaking Arabic. The results of this study are expected to assist Arabic language teachers in selecting appropriate teaching methods and strategies to address phonological errors and improve students’ Arabic speaking skills.
