HUBUNGAN KONSUMSI FAST FOOD, KEBISINGAN, SCREEN TIME DAN KUALITAS TIDUR DENGAN KEJADIAN HIPERTENSI DI WILAYAH RT 003 RW 003 KEL. LAIKANG KEC. BIRINGKANAYA KOTA MAKASSAR

Abstract

The rising incidence of hypertension remains a public health issue due to its potential to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, kidney failure, and premature death. Hypertension is influenced by various behavioral and environmental factors, including fast food consumption, noise, screen time, and sleep quality. This study aims to determine the relationship between fast food consumption, noise, screen time, and sleep quality and the incidence of hypertension in the RT.003 RW.003 area of Laikang Urban Village, Biringkanaya District, Makassar City, in 2026. This study employs a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of 270 individuals aged ≥18 years, with a sample of 73 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), Screen Time Self-Report, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI); noise levels were measured using a Sound Level Meter (SLM), and blood pressure was measured using a digital sphygmomanometer. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test. The results indicate no relationship between fast food consumption and the incidence of hypertension (p = 0.277). Conversely, significant relationships were found between noise (p = 0.006), screen time (p = 0.045), and sleep quality (p = 0.035) and the incidence of hypertension. It is concluded that fast food consumption is not associated with the incidence of hypertension, whereas noise, screen time, and sleep quality are significantly associated with it. The community is advised to limit the duration of electronic device usage, maintain sleep quality, reduce exposure to noise, and adopt a healthy lifestyle as measures to prevent hypertension.
