PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN TEKNOLOGI ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TERHADAP KINERJA MAHASISWA

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has brought significant changes in the field of education, particularly in students' academic activities. This study aims to examine the influence of Artificial Intelligence technology use on student performance, critical thinking ability, creativity, and learning patterns. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The research subjects were three students from different universities in Surabaya—Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), and Universitas Surabaya (UBAYA)—who actively use AI in their academic activities. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that AI use can provide positive impacts, including improved learning effectiveness, easier access to information, and faster completion of academic tasks. However, excessive AI use may also lead to dependency and a decline in students' critical thinking abilities. The most frequently used AI applications are ChatGPT and Claude AI. Therefore, wise and balanced use of AI is necessary so that this technology can serve as a learning tool that supports the improvement of education quality in the digital era.
