Abstract

This study aims to describe the components of intimacy, passion, and commitment and to identify the type of love reflected in the relationship between Jenan Saskara Sadipta and Azizah Nadiandra, the main characters in Lost Him To Meet You by Ira Alwi. Their relationship portrays the dynamics of an interfaith relationship as they navigate various challenges and conflicts, ultimately leading to a particular type of love. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method within the framework of literary psychology. The data source was the novel Lost Him To Meet You, while the data consisted of narrative excerpts, dialogues, and monologues collected through reading and note-taking techniques using a data collection table as the research instrument. The data were analyzed through data reduction, classification, interpretation, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the relationship between Jenan and Azizah embodies the three components of Robert J. Sternberg’s Triangular Theory of Love: intimacy, passion, and commitment. The integration of these components forms consummate love. Furthermore, their relationship reflects Sternberg’s concept of true love and demonstrates its relevance to real life through a balance of compromise, open communication, and the psychological readiness of both characters despite differences in religious beliefs and the challenges surrounding their relationship. This study is expected to serve as a reference for future literary research employing different objects or theoretical perspectives.
