AKOMODASI DIALEK BAHASA IBU MAHASISWA PERANTAU MELAYU SAMBAS DI FKIP UNIVERSITAS TANJUNGPURA PONTIANAK: KAJIAN SOSIOLINGUISTIK

Abstract

This study focuses on the dialect accommodation of the mother tongue of Sambas Malay migrant students at FKIP Tanjungpura University Pontianak. The objectives of this study are to describe the forms of dialect accommodation (convergence and divergence) used by Sambas Malay migrant students, to analyze the sociolinguistic factors that influence the choice of dialect accommodation, and to identify the sociolinguistic implications of dialect accommodation on the maintenance of the Sambas Malay mother tongue. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative research form. The data collection techniques used in this study are observation techniques, semi-structured interviews, recording techniques, and note-taking techniques. The results of this study indicate that the forms of dialect accommodation include convergence in formal academic contexts and divergence in interactions with fellow migrants, family, and community. The factors influencing accommodation work at three levels: individual, institutional, and structural. The implications for mother tongue maintenance are multidimensional, namely the narrowing of domains and lexical shifts, but also the emergence of increased metalinguistic awareness, identity reinforcement, and the use of digital technology as a space for language revitalization.
