FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG BERHUBUNGAN DENGAN KEJADIAN HAEMORAGIC POST PARTUM DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS SIDODADI KABUPATEN SIDOARJO

Abstract

Haemoragic Post Partum (HPP) remains a major maternal health problem and is a leading cause of maternal morbidity and mortality. If not managed promptly and appropriately, HPP can result in severe complications and death. Several factors may contribute to the occurrence of HPP, including maternal age, parity, anemia status, pregnancy interval, duration of the second stage of labor, and birth canal laceration. This study aimed to determine the factors associated with the incidence of HPP in the working area of Sidodadi Public Health Center, Sidoarjo Regency. This quantitative analytical study employed a retrospective case-control design. The independent variables were maternal age, parity, anemia status, pregnancy interval, duration of the second stage of labor, and birth canal laceration, while the dependent variable was the incidence of HPP. The study included 60 postpartum mothers, consisting of 30 HPP cases and 30 non- HPP controls selected using a fixed disease sampling technique. Data were collected from delivery registers, Maternal and Child Health handbooks, and medical records. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test and Fisher's Exact Test with a significance level of α 0.05. Significant associations were found between maternal age (p 0.001; OR 11.7), parity (p 0.001 OR 9.8), anemia status (p 0.001; OR 24.8), pregnancy interval (p 0.001; OR 50.1), and the incidence of PPH. The duration of the second stage of labor was also significantly associated with HPP (p 0.001), although the odds ratio could not be calculated because of a zero-frequency cell. Early identification of maternal and labor-related risk factors is essential to reduce the incidence of HPP.
