Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) as a representation of the proletarian movement from the perspective of Karl Marx’s sociology. According to Marx’s theory, the history of human civilization is shaped by conflicts between the ruling bourgeoisie, which controls the means of production, and the proletariat. In Indonesia, the PKI was one of the political parties that claimed to fight for the interests of the working class. This study employed a quantitative method, specifically in-depth interviews with informants from the Pancasila Sakti Museum on the PKI Betrayal. The results of the study indicate that the PKI adopted the concept of class struggle as its ideology in its fight for the interests of workers and farmers. This was, of course, influenced by various factors within Indonesian society.
