Abstract

The development of modern life, characterized by the increasing dominance of materialism and the demands of productivity, often leads individuals to experience boredom, anxiety, and a crisis of meaning. Such conditions encourage the need for spiritual reflection as a means of attaining inner peace and emotional balance. Music is one of the media that can represent these experiences and convey deeper reflections on human life. This study aims to analyze the representation of zuhud (asceticism) values in the song "33x" by Perunggu through the perspectives of Islamic moral Sufism (Akhlak Tasawuf) and Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with an interpretative approach. The primary data consist of the lyrics of "33x" by Perunggu, while secondary data are obtained from books, journal articles, and other scholarly sources related to Sufism and semiotics. The analysis is conducted through Barthes' three levels of signification: denotation, connotation, and myth, which are subsequently interpreted using the concept of zuhud within the framework of Akhlak Tasawuf. The findings reveal that the lyrics of "33x" represent existential anxiety, emotional exhaustion, and the search for a deeper meaning of life. From the perspective of Islamic moral Sufism, these conditions can be understood as the initial stage of spiritual awareness that leads individuals toward the practice of zuhud. Therefore, "33x" functions not only as a musical work but also as a medium of reflection that implicitly represents spiritual values within the context of modern life.
