GAMBARAN PENGETAHUAN IBU HAMIL TENTANG PREEKLAMSIA
Abstract
Background: Preeclampsia is one of the complications of pregnancy that can cause maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. Pregnant women's knowledge about preeclampsia is very important for early detection and proper management. Objective: This study aims to describe the knowledge of pregnant women about preeclampsia. Methods: This study used a descriptive method with a survey approach. The study sample was pregnant women who visited certain health facilities. Data were collected using a questionnaire about knowledge of preeclampsia. Results: The majority of respondents showed good awareness about preeclampsia, with 87.5% understanding about preeclampsia, 84.4% stating a history of hypertension can cause preeclampsia, 90.6% stating preeclampsia can cause fetal complications, and 84.4% stating obesity needs to be monitored. However, there are still misconceptions among some respondents, such as 56.3% answering incorrectly about first pregnancy being a cause of preeclampsia and 28.1% considering severe headaches during pregnancy as a normal symptom. Conclusion: Many respondents still do not have adequate knowledge about preeclampsia. Pregnant women are very vulnerable to preeclampsia, so it is important to educate pregnant women about the symptoms and indicators as well as prevention strategies for early detection. Keywords
