EDUKASI PENGELOLAAN LIMBAH ORGANIK RUMAH TANGGA MENJADI EKOENZIM DI RT 05/ RW 05 KEDAUNG, SAWANGAN, DEPOK

Abstract

The management of organic household waste continues to pose a considerable environmental challenge, especially within densely inhabited neighborhoods such as RT 05/RW 05 in Kedaung Urban Village, Sawangan District, Depok City. One proposed solution is converting organic waste into eco-enzyme, a multifunctional, environmentally friendly solution produced through a three-month fermentation process of fruit and vegetable waste, sugar, and water. This community service program aimed to improve residents' knowledge and skills, particularly among housewives and heads of household, in processing household organic waste into eco-enzyme. The program was implemented through four stages: preparation and field survey, training and demonstration of eco-enzyme production, independent practice mentoring, and evaluation through pre-test and post-test. The results show that the proportion of households processing organic waste into eco-enzyme increased from 50% to 80%, while community understanding of eco-enzyme and its benefits increased from 60% to 90%. These outcomes suggest that hands-on, participatory instruction genuinely fosters shifts in how households handle organic refuse, though lasting impact still hinges on sufficient processing infrastructure and backing from local authorities.
